PLUMERAI
Plumerai is an ethereal pop band from Cambridge, MA that formed in 2004 with multi-instrumentalists/brothers Martin and James Newman. Despite numerous lineup changes the band went on to release several CD's, a 7 inch and played shows from Massachusetts to Texas and on to Greece where they performed at the 49th International Film Festival.
The band's sound is alternative pop that touches upon post-punk, shoegaze, Euro-folk and trip-hop mixed with their love of feedback. Though the songs tend to sway into melancholic territory, Plumerai's pop sensibilities surface to keep the music focused and interesting.
'Your Guilty Prize' was released in March 2011 through Darushka-4 records with longtime vocalist Elizabeth Ezell & new drummer Ben Dicke who both eventually parted ways. Plumerai quickly found a new voice in Eliza Brown, a recent transplant from Paris, France and later drummer Mickey Vershbow.
The new lineup gave Plumerai a much needed breath of fresh air. Eliza's jazzy vocals & Mickey's fluid drumming brought a noticeable upbeat element to the band's sound. Not wasting any time the quartet hit the studio to record their new songs, and four of the tracks will be released as an EP in early 2012.
